Hi
I havent been on much recently and had missed most of the summer posts. I am sure buried in the forums are discussions that answer this question. Before i left to work in Costa Rica this summer i seemed to unintentionally opened an old can of worms bringing up wiggys sleeping bags at that time it was suggested there were other more lightweight and compact sleeping bags. This is what i am wondering or looking for I would prefer to go non down in that if there is moisture to be my body and my gear seem to attract it so as much as i know down is the most compact best, but it wont do it for me so could any one suggest a synthetic sleeping bag that will dry quickly, hold heat if wet and compact and light, oh yeah if that wasnt enough i am a big guy so a bag that comes in a larger size matters thanks for all the input.

If you really can't keep your gear dry then you'll be cold in a wet synthetic bag too. Fortunately there's a way you can still win. Cuben fiber. I got a down quilt made of it.

But to answer your question more directly, going custom will get you the closest thing to a perfect fit. Getting the best materials may be tricky since some synthetic insulation is pretty much impossible to get in small quantities. Bigger manufacturers should have better luck if they try.

thanks so far for the input, the temp rating i think would be a 15 based on past experience

A 15 degree synthetic will be quite heavy.

While not a 15*, my EMS Velocity 35 is a great bag. I mention it to suggest PrimaLoft as the insulation you should definitely consider. It is relatively light, compresses quite well, drapes well. It is the closest synthetic to down that I have used.
