Has anyone ever published the actual plans for the Bryant Ridge shelter in case someone wanted to duplicate it on their own property?

I've never seen it, but what a great idea! I love that shelter! Please let us know if you do find it.

I'm not familiar with it. . . could you please tell where it is and what makes it so special?

Check with the trail maintenance club responsible for that section.

Have they fixed the roof yet?. When I went through there in spring 2002 there were detailed instructions on where to find the few spots that didnt leak in the rain. While in the area we ran into a maintainer that complained that it had been built with wooden shingles without underlayment to meet USFS specs and it had leaked since new. At the time they were hoping to get special dispensation to replace the roofing material. IMHO Overall it was more of an architectural gem than a functional shelter

This (http://books.google.com/books?id=aQvhAT2p4nMC&pg=PA62&lpg=PA62&dq=bryant+ridge+shelter+nelson+garnett&source=bl&ots=kglSNjdTz7&sig=xPC6eZOKu3gJd-NwY_4fodrbSOI&hl=en&ei=QIm4TJnHCMP68AanoqC2Dw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CBYQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=bryant%20ridge%20shelter%20nelson%20garnett&f=false) gives a little information on the shelter, as well as other interesting pics, etc.

Also, http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=892&catid=member&imageuser=497, shows image with the dedication poem on the shelter brass plaque at the bottom of the page.
