:datz:datzOctober in the White Mountians New Hampshire, cold & colder, a thru-hike starting in March or as others think, February 2011.GA..did people forget, its cold?

How do we deal with the :confused: brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....cold :eek: ?

Warm Wool Socks-Medium to Heavy
Balaclava
25 Degree 850 Down Bag
NeoAir Mattress
Gossamer Gear Pad under the NeoAir
Hot Water in Platypus or Nalgene inside sleeping bag
Gloves etc...

Wake up.. put the frozen running shoes on you so carefully loosened the laces on before bed. Hike till thawed.. the shoes and body. Take short breaks. Eat lots. Keep hiking till the light fades. Sleep.. repeat.
Make sure to remember that nothing, not even cold, lasts forever on the trail. Beyond carrying the proper amount and type of clothing/gear that works for you remember that:

Put all clothing and shoes that u will wear in AM in the bottom of ur SB at night. That makes the take off, in the AM, smooth sailing.

Bring along a waterbottle that can handle some heat and sleep with it at night (wrapped in a sock so you won't get burned).
