Hello, I'm planning to hike the GA portion of the trail over the week of Thanksgiving. I had two questions:

1) Should a 15 degree bag be warm enough or should I carry my 0 degree for insurance?

2) Will water availability likely be a problem this time of year?

Thanks.

I've hiked that section in mid winter before with a 20 degree bag and a liner. I think you'll be warm with the 15 degree. Water wasn't a problem in winter in GA for me.

I hiked Springer to Unicoi Gap about 2 weeks ago and there ARE parts where water could be a problem. I suggest you fill up every time you find water.

Shouldn't have a problem by November with the water. Check it closer to the time you leave. Bet it rains by then.
