I am thinking of doing a section hike from Rodman Dam to Olustee Park in late January or early February. I would like to know how much of this section is road walk. By the looks on the Florida Trail website it appears a long section right in the middle. Any & all help is appreciated.

lilricky, a forum member here, has a KMZ track for Google Earth on his website: http://www.lilricky.com/FT/. If you don't have Google Earth/don't want to download it, you can go to http://maps.google.com and paste in "http://theholycrosscx.com/files/flatrail.kmz" as your search and it will bring it up on there. My computer doesn't like Google Earth, so I hosted the file on my domain to view it.

I think it's terrible that the only information and maps the FTA offers about the trail must be purchased. It really does nothing to promote the trail to would-be hikers.

There's about 10 miles north of Etoniah Creek State Forest that goes along the Old Stage Coach Road (Bellamy Road) and then over a little bit where you pick up the backside of Goldhead Branch State Park. Past Keystone Heights you walk quite a ways on the old railroad bed.

It looks like a long section of road walk down HWY 100 or is that the railroad bed you were talking about.

Just a correction from what erichkopp (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/member.php?u=21792) posted, the FT GPS map is in .GPX format, but if anyone wants it in .KMZ format I can easily do that.

Are you hard set on that section. The Ellaville Trail along the Suwannee River heading out at White Springs (Stephen Foster State Park) to Ellaville (Suwannee River State Park) is about 41 miles and most of the trial runs along the river and is really one of the prettiest sections. But you may have already that section. Just a suggestion.
