I wouldnt want to personally own one....but bushnell has a 3oz gps...no basemaps or programable totally not fancy...two models 3 waypoint and 5 waypoint! 2 AAA batteries last 21hrs. Would only be good for finding your way back, in a need be situation.

Wow you answered your own question. You don't see the need - but it would be nice to have... My experience is that you have to be willing to "remember" to turn it on, have good batteries, put it on top of the car and wait. Yea two minutes and then save the point. Then it might work. I have seen basic models -"magellen" point in 180 degrees from the car where I could see the car in the distance. Because I stopped walking and turned around the units can be faked out. In deep woods the cheap models do not have the best antenna and therefore make a few mistakes.
Good start though.
I guess the 3 ounces is nice, but I would rather get an older Garmin Vista. It's much more usable, still has awesome battery life and costs about the same.
