I was NOBO on 441 this morning and saw there was a forest fire in the Cowetta Lab / Albert Mtn area. Does anyone have details?

Hiked not far from there on Saturday (Winding Stair Gap to Siler's Bald). The woods were mighty dry. I can see how a forest fire would get out of control quickly. Hope they get on top of this soon. :)

There was a fire west of Burningtown Gap when we went by last Thursday. Smoke was getting to be a concern as we took a break. We call the Forest Service and said it was "under control".
