Anyone have any pictures of how you rig your tarp with mosquito netting? I'm interested seeing how you guys configure your set-up.

I'm going back and forth on getting a Lunar Solo or just trying to use a basic tarp with netting instead.

Cheers!

Sorry, no pictures, but the Sea to Summit net has a single suspension point that easily ties to a ridge line. WOrks fine, even in pretty buggy conditions. Cheap, too.

Thanks FB. I've been eyeballing the Sea-to-Summit Bug Net. Some folks say mosquito netting lets in black flies on occasion and better to go with noseeum net. I wonder?

Here is a ray-way tarp and net tent. It works for me.

I drove up to Bluff Mountain Outfitters today and after talking to Wayne ended up buying a SMD Lunar Solo. I was very happy to finally see one up close. Darn thing has more room inside than my Hubba HP!

I'll still play around with setting up a flat tarp with a mosquito net so if you have any pics or even YouTube video links send them on. I always enjoy learning from you guys!

I'm working on building my G4 backpack right now, but my next project is to make my own tarp tent and I'm using the SMD Lunar Solo as my "inspiration". I love the way it's designed - I'm just going to try to make it lighter, and of course, cheaper.

Bluff Mountain Outfitters rocks! Love those guys!

Sounds great! Good luck with your projects.

The other tarp/net combination's I seriously considered were from Oware and Mountain Laurel Designs. Toss up really.

The netting's pretty fine. Should handle black flies.

I LOVE the picture of "Wise Old Owl" in his hammock with tarp. Can anyone tell me where to get a straight-forward rectangular ( ultra light ) tarp to hang over my hammock? The ones I have seen so far seem awfully heavy !

carried a tarp without net. Only used DEET twice in 2165 miles. Is it really worth carrying the net for a handful nights of protection?

The pictured Tarp was custom made by the General a WB member and is 8x10, a bit thicker than Sil.

Here try this,
