Just curious will we need 2 bear bag setups, 1 for each of us, or is there a way to get 5 days worth of food for 2 people into one bear bag and hang it???

Thanks!!!

We've used 2 bearbags (one each) but one set-up. I throw the rope over the tree limb, affix both bags to the carabiner hook at the end, and haul it up.

We use two bags, since five days of food for two people weighs a lot. We've been using Ursacks since 2004, so no hanging bear bags. Love em.

By growing up in scouts I learned bear bagging for a group 10+people= heavy bear bag. We are normally not around the bear bag pole and have to use a tree. It does take a few extra people to pull one up, but it does work.
I will be using 1 bear bag for to 2 people on my hike. 2 people to lift the pole if needed, and one person to through the food up while the other pulls it up. Team

I normally only hang one, but have equipment with me to hang 2 if needed. Sometimes those branches just won't support 14 days worth of food.

Two people is fine. We tried more people and it does not work. We had some laughs over that. Fortunately, the bears left our stuff alone that weighed 20 lbs and dangled four feet off the ground. In a last desperate attempt to salvage the situation, we peed under the bags.

To hang a group bag you have one person holding the bag, and 1 person holding the rope. The person holding the rope will pull it taught. Then when they say go, person holding the bag will throw the bag up into the air, while at the same time the person with the rope will start running. If done properly the bag will be high up into the tree with everyones food. Depending how strong the people are hanging the bear bag wil determine how many people you will need to get the bag up in the tree.

My son and I managed to hang two bags on one line, but it was difficult for the first couple of days. You do have to choose an especially strong branch to throw the rope over.

Hmm..What is an Ursack? I always used either a nylon stuff sack or or a cascades designs dry bag .never heard of a Ursack before...Of course I always pulled the bags into a tree ....
