Hey friends! I'm a virgin Winter ADK High Peaks bagger... wondering if any of you have experience with these SS?

Wondering if there's a consensus here that these don't have enough traction for breaking trail, once the *climb* of the mountain starts? or can you in most cases start bare-booting(w/ another type of traction device) and not be post-holing... because of ice, firm snow near the top-ish of mountains?
