The free John Muir Trail maps are now ready!

You can view the online data book (http://postholer.com/databook/index.php?trail_id=4) and 41 image map set (http://postholer.com/mapbooks/preview.php?trail_id=4) or registered postholer hikers can download them together in .pdf format (http://postholer.com/transfer.php?type=4).

These maps have all the same outstanding features (http://postholer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=979) as the postholer PCT maps.

Have fun!

Good deal! Any hiker with 2-3 free weeks should do this trail.

Heck, if there's no snow you probably won't need the maps! ;)

I imagine you'll need to resupply at least once, so you'll need to know the location and the specifics of your resupply. The PCT resupply page (http://postholer.com/databook/resupply.php) has detailed mailing info along most of the JMT.

Water shouldn't be an issue, although you should carry a liter with you at all times just to be comfortable.

Have a great trip!

Agreed, absolutely beautiful area. I would strongly suggest the side hike to Ediza lake and even Iceberg lake if you have the time!

The postholer JMT maps have been updated with the new data generously provided by the hikers known as Mr. Fishmonger and Bill!

Further, I've created a northbound *and* southbound set with matching data book appendices. You can view the northbound set online (http://postholer.com/mapbooks/preview.php?trail_id=4) and download either from that page.

Thanks again folks for your data, I know the whole community appreciates it!

The JMT is No. 1 on my bucket list and time is getting shorter.

+1 on the time getting shorter.

I may try to get there in 2011 if everything works out

you have to have permits in 168 days ahead of time so start planning.... or risk walk up permits
