I wonder about what emerald's document has for the a historical range of breeding colonies.

There is a Pigeonroost Run in southern Bedford County, near the metropolis of Beans Cove.

Presumably that's imaginary, like the occurrence of "buffalo" place names in PA and NY (for instance, New Buffalo, the next borough north of Duncannon on the Susquehanna, and Little Buffalo and Big Buffalo creeks tributary at Newport, the next borough up from Duncannon on the Juniata).

I don't know about imaginary. I've seen plenty of folks in those areas that appear to be descended from Bison. Just saying.

The last known population of Passenger Pigeons was in Wisconsin. There is a memorial to the bird at a zoo in Cincinatti:

and a historical marker in Wisconsin

I've seen the both :)

I've eaten squab ( I think that's what it's called) it's good. When I was a kid, many years ago, some old man used to shoot them for a bounty and my job was to twist their heads off for him.

Back when I was a kid, Pigeon's were all over the place one would trip over them in downtown Philly. Now that squab is on the menu in Chinatown Philly, one hardly sees them in the urban jungle today.

Yes I know Passenger is not same - but its close.
