Hey All,
I'm currently using a old bass pro shop stuff sack as my food bag, it's getting pretty worn out & ratty. It's made of ripstop & suppose to be water resistant (Not!). Anywho, It has started letting water inside when it gets soaked. while my food doesnt get wet (everything is in ziplocs) I don't like shoving it in my pack wet (i've been putting it in a plactic bag to help). I'm looking for suggestions for a new food bag, one that's not such a pain.

thx,
Jab.

Mountain Laurel Designs makes a nice Cuben Fiber dry bag that would make a great food bag.

i have moved away from my eVent drysack,

i am keeping my food in one day rations in a gallon ziploc, little more modular, in the morning i have my cereal, pull out my granola bars or gorp etc. for day snacks and fill my hipbelt pocket with it... and at night have dinner.

i actually really enjoy having my food planned out in 'day bags' makes resupply much much easier, since my sister mails my resupplies for me i simply say 'send 5 bags' or 'send 7 bags'

made some today and had 4,070 calories in 37 ounces for a stove-less setup. not bad that include all packaging.

Exactly how many Snickers bars is that? :D
Actually, I think that's a good idea, I may give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Someone, I forget who, kept their food in separate gallon ziplocks, divided by breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks&drinks. Each morning as they loaded their pack, they'd select the food for the day and put it in an easily accessible "day" bag. Easy to find, no fuss about looking for a particular meal, and the other food bags could be stashed into nooks and crannies in the pack.

I like the outdoor research ditty sacks. The one I use for a food bag is nearly translucent, making it easier to see what's what. After a rain, heavy fog or night I just wipe it down with my bandana and stow it away.
