3" of rain expected here in the Whites, give me a break! And we were working on getting a decent snow base. Now we'll have a real good avalanch base.

Spent the afternoon on my roof in the cold rain, removing 6" of heavy, rain soaked snow and some thick ice dams along the edges. Figured I'd better do that before the serious rain started. Fun you bet.

While I was out playing in the rain and getting soaked, I was thinking about how nasty it would be to be hiking anywhere between Georgia and Maine today.

The Rain in Maine falls mainly in the... This is SO WRONG! The rain is messing things up badly, up here in the central Maine area. Surely is not going to make good snowshoing, and will likely hurt the ski areas. Looking at flooding in areas...

We need FLAKES, not flakey weather... Here's hoping for a white Christmas for all the Maineiacs... or 80's and sunny would be ok, too!

WHEW!! I thought you were talking about my in-laws!

Snowed here in Tampa Sat night - quite a bit and large flakes as well. Lasted about 15 minutes, but didn't stick.

Of course, I was at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert when the snow machines were set off!

We've got about 4" down in the valley this morning and are supposed to get 3 more. I haven't ventured down to the trail this morning but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a foot of snow above 3500'.

The temp is supposed to be 12* tonight with a windchill of -3* with more snow....

If my wife is in a good mood and I don't think she'll try to have me committed I might hike the 6 miles up to No Business Knob shelter this afternoon and spend the night...

This is a perfect time to try out some cold weather stuff close to home.

On Sat, Roan had about 8 inches, wonder how much is up there now?

Looked like a blizzard up at the parking area of tray mountain on Sunday. I got there early and an inch or so was already on the ground. The wind was whipping the snow all over. I loved it.

At 4:30 PM, it's still 45*F in Gorham. The rain we got yesterday and today, washed away the snow. Bare ground.

It's too cloudy to see the Presies, but I'm guessing there is still snow above 4000'.
