Mine came a few days ago. I weighed it this morning and the tent itself weighed 19 ounces, a bit more than the specification of 16 ounces.

Thats just the tent/tarp without any line or stakes right? Everything I've ordered from MLD in the past was within 0.2oz of the weight quoted, so 3oz does seem to be a bit far off.

Wow, you got 3 extra ounces for free! :D

Fabric weights aren't exact, so small variances should be anticipated. But yeah, they ought to error more on the conservative side especially with UL gear, even if the marketing side suffers a bit. Sounds like their raw materials may have been out of spec, though. You could ask if they have one closer to the advertised weight and ask for an exchange.

If you're lucky, your mid might have a slightly thicker treatment of silicone, making it more waterproof than a lighter one.

Next time take your finger off the scale : )

Call Ron, he's good about that stuff, he will do right by you.

yes to all questions.

I'm not doing anything about it but just wanted to let people know what to expect if you are really counting grams.

Maybe it is a tougher tent for the weight. If so, thats ok as it will be my winter shelter anyway.

I went back and reweighed it three ways just to make sure:

with tent, line, pole extender, stakes, and stuffsack - 1 pound, 9oz.

tent alone with rubber band holding it in rolled up position - 1 pound, 2.5 oz. First time I weighed it in the stuff sack which was another .5 ounces.

tent and stakes only - 1 pound, 6 ounces.

no seam sealing has been done yet.
