Is Esbit fuel available at most, or all, resupply towns?

Available at the first three outfitters on the southern AT (Neels Gap, Three Eagles, and the NOC). :)

I use esbit exclusively and you'll see it frequently up and down the trail but I didn't see it in sufficient enough quanities to feel good about not mailing myself some.

Most of the places I saw it only had 1 or 2 boxes on the shelf... They may have had more "in the back" but I think it wasn't likely...

Point being, if someone else had gotten there first there wouldn't have been any.

Kinda like a food resupply place getting sacked by hikers and not having anything left when you get there.

I found it as far north of Kent CT, I can't say beyond there

The Mountain Goat in Hanover, NH should have it.
You could ask.

Pretty sure Gorham Hardware and Sports in Gorham, NH does as well.

There's also a small outfitter in Gorham - if he's still in business. The store didn't look to be doing very well last time I was in there.

Yes - The Mountain Goat in Hanover was the only place I went that had an abundance of esbit. And would you know that I sent a package containing just esbit there!

Gorham Hardware and Sports had a few boxes but the place across the street - Moriah Sports - who were just changing their name to something else (Altitude Sports maybe?) did not have any. However, thankfully I was able to pick up some Leki's there because the Whites ate my Black Diamonds.

Is there any updated information about Esbit availability along the AT? Has anyone used this exclusively lately? Thank you.

How do you handle that goo that gets all over everything?

You can clean it with alcohol.

I tend to ignore it until I'm home.

Soap and water cleans it off hard surfaces such as cookwear. It might stain textiles; not sure. I've used Esbit exclusively for 15 years, buying it in quantity from Campmor.
