Silks or ??

I am planning to start a sectional hike from Springer Mtn to Franlklin NC on March 6. I have done numerous winter outdoor activities with different types of first layers. I am thinking about silk long underwear for several reasons: 1. warm 2. lightweight 3. not as tight on your body as other products thus more breathing. I am also going to use them with my 15 degree sleeping bag
I would appreciate thoughts and comments would be appreciated:sun

That is what I use. Biggest reason for me besides the ones that you stated: they don't "grab" my clothing.

I took a set of Patagonia Cap 1 and 3's last year. Worked great for me. Tweaked for summer.
