I am planning on going SOBO now and have no ideas as to what changes in clothing I will need going south. I am leaving July 2. Any ideas as to what clothing to take for hiking in the south during the winter?

Check out Winton Porters gear list (http://www.backpacker.com/november_08_pack_man_/articles/12659?page=4) (ignore the pop-up). The clothing system worked well for me last year. Tweak for summer time.

Cheers!

Well this year we had it hot, hot in the 100 mile wilderness. You never know. I had my hiking clothes (convertible pants, t-shirt) and I did bring some lightweight fleece for at night, along with a jacket and hat. Esp later on in the hike, you will be at elevation. And then there are the WHites

I can tell you though, unless you are a consistent hiker in good shape, you will hit snow and cold (Dec) leaving in July. If you can leave any earlier, it would be better.
