I am thinking of putting some 900 fill down in my bag it has plenty of room. Is that not a good idea? my current bag is synthetic I have found one site that sells 3 ounces for thirty bux I don't even know how much tree ounces will cover?

I've thought about doing that myself, but my concern is that the down would get clogged within the synthetic insulation without creating additional loft. It would still add some warmth, but probably only a fraction of what it would if it could loft freely. In short, I wouldn't do it. More importantly, there's no reason for the fabric of a synthetic bag to be calendared. Without a calendared surface, the fabric will probably do a piss poor job of holding the down inside.

While you're at it, look at the down sleeping bags by Kelty sold at Campmore or the down sleeping bag sold by Luxurylite. If you are up to a sewing job, look at the thru-hiker.com down quilt kit.
