I've been looking at getting some Smartwool or similar T-shirts, but a lot of things I've found are close to $100 per garment. Is there anywhere else to get something a little more affordable?

Hey Erichkopp......you could always try looking/checking on steepandcheap.com They have deals every 30mins or so and usually they are pretty good deals. Good luck :-) If you find them somewhere else let me know!!

ditto that, I have found several things on there, whenever I am online, I just go the site for a quick peek to what's on. It's kind of like Easter Egg hunting!

Goodwill or similar thrift shop will also give up some "easter eggs" from time to time.

www.sacalerts.com (http://www.sacalerts.com). BPL has a section where forum members post gear deals. I found a long sleeve, half-zip Stoic top on there for $22.

Remember, any idiot can determine what's least expensive. Wise consumers spend their time figuring out what's the best value for their money and invest in people who provide value when they give up their greenbacks.

After Christmas, you can usually pick up some nice Merino Wool sweaters from department stores like Dillards and others, as well as at Target and TJ Max and Marshalls.

Then, at deep closeout near the end of winter, Dillards will often go 40% off and an additional 40% off that discounted price which results in 36% of list or 64% off total. Similar deals may be found in other Department stores and the big boxes.

Emerald - the poor guy has 39 posts here at Wb and you post that he might be an idiot. We don't know him at all, he might be a scientist with a doctorate. He might be a alpaca breeder for all I care,

You, again, my friend, are the person with the problem. I'm not beating up on the person who started the thread, only repeating what all smart consumers who value options know.

I froze my butt off last Sunday and am looking to buy some new merino wool myself. It pleased me to see the thread and I meant no offense whatsoever toward the person who initiated it.

emerald -- definite cheap shot. Must be winter where we hike from the computer chair to the refrigerator more than get outside. Good you apologized.

Yes, Minus 33 has great wool clothing at not too steep of a price. I purchased some nice thick leggings made by Minus 33 at The Outfitter when I hiked south through Harpers Ferry. Lasted great until a fire burned my home down. Good quality.

Am I the only person who finds it funny that Moabsports.com is in New Jersey? Just saying.............I've ordered from them, and they were fine. Just bizarre.

I'm following these links and keep seeing this name - Terramar - is their wool baselayer any good?

have scored 3 merino shirts drom salvation army for a grand total of $9. With some of the prices on these things new... it may be cheaper to just raise the sheep yourself.
