It's Snowing in Kentucky

We've been blessed with the most beautiful White Christmas I can ever recall in Central Illinois.

I think I actually heard Santa.

No snow in Erwin yet though they're still calling for 4-5". Of more concern to me at the moment is the 12" in the higher elevations over towards Davenport Gap where I want to start my hike tomorrow....

Blazing a trail over Max Patch with more than 12" of snow and a full pack would require a bit of effort.

Hmmm.. it's almost 7:30 and everyone is still asleep on Christmas morning. My kids are all in their late teens now and sleep till noon on weekends and holidays. A few years ago we were up at 4:00 am on Christmas morning.

Time flies, kids grow up...I do love my family...

Three inches of snow here in the Evansville area. Just watched four deer cross across our backyard at daybreak. Beautiful way to start Christmas morning. Will plan to hike tomorrow as the woods should be beautiful.

Lying in bed early this morn, I could tell by the reflection coming through the window that we had snow on the ground. At 7am my daughter called and was very excited telling me the news. i looked out and it was beautiful. She, liked me had never seen that much snow on Christmas morning. For us here in Alabama, it is a once in a lifetime event. Merry Christmas to all. We live in a Blessed nation. James

Living in southern Texas, I never had a white Christmas. This morning, in KY with my daughter and family, I got my first. Amazing!

Just brushed the snow off my Directv dish so we could watch tv and a quick measurement with the end of my broom handle measures almost three inches and its still coming down fairly fast. I told my wife this would be a good time to practice setting up my tent in snow. She thought I was crazy and said " Go ahead". I think I'll pass.

Wow, you all can enjoy it... No new snow up here in the Snow Band of Northern Indiana... It does seem odd that down south is getting hit, but those of us up here are staring to see grass...

Yup, we got a few inches of the fresh white stuff here in the Bluegrass as well. Only my second winter in KY and I get a White Christmas!

BTW last Spring I saw a mamma bear & 2 cubs crossing the road to Black Mountain less than a mile from the KY/VA border.

It's been a very snowy year in Minnesota. I've received roughly 30" this month. It's a beautiful thing, but a pain to shovel ;)

No photos - it happened too fast. They were about 50-75 feet in front. Stopped the car abruptly and got out but they were already off the road into the bushes. The undergrowth was very dense around there so we couldn't see them anymore.
