Like much of the east coast, we got hammered by the Nor'easter -at least 2 feet here. I think it's stopped snowing, but now the wind has picked up and blowing it around. Since this is light fluffy stuff, the drifts will be impressive when it calms down.

I hope some people hike up to Gray Knob on Lowe's path before I do New Years eve, or I might not get there until next year

Heres what my place looks like now.

I'm pretty far south of you but this is my first year in North Carolina and all year everyone has been promising me that it doesn't snow here in the winter. Well it came down here for a couple of days too. Not two feet, but quite a few inches, and enough to stop operations in a place with no snow plows :)

Not as impressive as yours, but it is north Alabama. (Better yet, it'll be gone in a few days...)

P.S.- Shoveling kinda sucks.

We got nailed here in SE Virginia also. We got 14 inches which is the 3rd most snow ever in a snowstorm since 1890. It was the most snow we've ever gotten in one day. Here's a few pics of my horses playing in the snow. These are young ones...this year's foals and one older filly turning two in the Spring.

Impressive snow picture there .
My brother who lives in Jefferson, one town over from you, down loaded pics of snow piled twice as high as his snow blower.
Hmm... wonder how much snow the presidential range received ?

A s**t load :D I went for a short walk up into the woods this evening and plowing through this deep powder is really, really hard work. It took about 1.5 hours to go about 3/4 mile. It might get a little easier once the snow has a chance to settle for a few days...

Confused Alabama deer - very skittish. (I'm sure they grew even more confused as it got deeper and deeper.)

We got a dry slot in the storm and "only" got 9". 60 miles west, in the Hudson Valley, they got 24 or so, up to 3' in places. It blew hard here, with gusts over 50 mph. White out conditions. Very hard to drive in!

I live in the lake effect snow belt near Syracuse, NY. We got 2 inches from the big storm. It is your turn for a change!!

Fortunately, we don't really use that door except in the summertime. On the other side of the house, I had to keep them broken off. In fact, I had to get up on a ladder and destroy the ice dam which had formed at the gutters...

Funny you said that.. I was walking down Unaka Springs Rd. and for about a quarter mile there were icicles like that hanging from the rocks next to the road.

I bet it took me 30 minutes to walk that quarter mile because I was busy jabbing the icicles with my poles and generally making a mess.

My inner child.... :)

Snowballs, other icicles, anything. Makes a fun noise.

When I lose all the small pleasures-get me my afghan and rocking chair.
