I stayed @ this one back in November, 2003. While of a simple design, it had a picnic table, fire ring & a fairly new privy. What I DO remember was that the water source was way downhill to a nice stream, @ least 1/4 mile north on the AT. @ least the shelter is right off the trail.....

Yea, water is a chug for this one. At least it is not as bad as Vandeventer a little way to the South. Its about 0.5 mile and 400 ft elevation change.

Huh? My recollection was that water was down a trail just to the left of the shelter. Why're people going to the dry weather source? Did I drink privy contaminated water or something?

I stayed here in June 2004. Other hikers did find a tiny water source way down a slippery hill to the left, but since I was going SOBO I filled up at the creek 4/10ths of a mile north of the shelter, but a fairly easy walk. There was a nice campsite there also, with room for 3-4 tents, versus only 3 decent sites around the shelter itself.
