Merry Christmas to me!

Any feedback on battery life on trail? Has anyone used on? Constructive comments appreciated.

Garmin rates the 210 at 8 hours.

I've got the 405 - Garmin says 8 hours, the most I've ever gotten is 7. I bet the 210 and the 405 use the same battery.

I also have (and use 99.999% of the time) a 310XT - Garmin says 20 hours - I've never ran it down.

Love the 310XT, do not love the 405 for 2 reasons: short battery life and that blasted touch bezel.

Edited to add: My 405 will run a few weeks on a charge in sports watch mode - the GPS is what runs the battery down so fast. Really, 7 hours of GPS time isn't that bad - it was fine for me until I started doing some endurance stuff that I needed more than 7 hours to complete.

Garmin Connect is pretty cool too because you can upload your data to the web. Here's my data from a hike I went on today as an example: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/61642725?sms_ss=email&at_xt=4d20dd993dbacd9a%2C0

Thanks 10-K!

I went to purchase the 310XT due to the battery life and triathlon settings but it was soooo bulky I couldn't handle it...literally.

So I left the store with a 210 instead. For now, this watch is sufficient for my needs. Daily runs, day hikes...

Was just wondering if those that own these watches had any tricks that they've learned along the way and wouldn't mind sharing...

Also, with the battery at 8 hrs with GPS engaged...is it possible just to turn on the GPS at certain times to get a waypoint throughout the day during say a 2-3 day hike so that the battery doesn't kill over on the first day?

charged it overnight...gonna try it on a run today!

10-K!

Did an indoor run yesterday and this is what I got:

Do you recommend a map package? I have a 10% offer with Garmin for the next 30 days.
