Around April 10th my husband and I are hoping to drive down Skyline Drive, and maybe some of the Blue Ridge Parkway if time permits. I'd like to do a bit of hiking in SNP. We are novice hikers. Yesterday we did our first hike ever, the first 1.5 miles of Ivy Branch Trail in Susquehanna State Park, and then 1.7 miles of road back to the car. We managed this in just under 2 hours. I am hoping to do more hikes in Susquehanna and other regional parks in preparation for our trip. (I have mild/moderate CP so I want to do a little more prep than your average person.)
The following is a list of hikes I am considering. A lot of the sites I've looked at rate things on the scale of easy, moderate, etc. (Hiking Upward, GuidetoSNP, VirginiaTrailGuide, MidAtlanticHikes.) I wanted to get some feedback on whether these hikes were feasible for two people who will only have 3 months experience. We have up to two weeks to do this, although if possible I'd like to do it a little faster. Please also let me know if any of my information is inaccurate. The times are what I've found on other sites, I'll probably give each hike a little buffer just to be safe. Thank you.
