Has anyone come up with a lighter weight storage container than the tube that comes with the cone? I'm curious to see if there is a better option out there that someone's already found.

I have the CC sized for a Snow Peak 700.

Maybe try the Sunsweet prune container. I saw one in the grocery store but it looked too small for my Snow peak 900 cone. Its a lot lighter than that heavy container that comes with it.

You could roll it up it in your sleeping pad (shown on website), but that looks fra-geel-lay.

I used a 20 oz. drink bottle with both ends cut out and it was good. I finally went back to the tube for 2 reasons. For the 2 oz penalty it was more convenient and it gave me an extra cup to mix sauce at dinner. Over all, the package is still very lightweight even with the tube.

I wasn't even thinking about using the container as a cup! Great idea! I guess I never thought about it since I don't normally carry a cup, but I guess I've been carrying a cup after all.

I need to review my multitasking gear eye a bit more

I use a Pringles can.. roll the caldera cone up and slide it in.. fuel bottle goes in the center.. lighter next.. stove goes upside down on top.. then I slide a newspaper bag down over the top to secure the stove. Cheap solution if nothing else.

Thats not a bad idea. Does the Caldera stove fit in there?

It's probably a few grams heavier as the original "package" from Trail Designs was just a 16-oz plastic drink cup, but I wanted to completely enclose the cone to protect my other gear. The Caldera Cone is a TDCS70 for SP700 or TiLite Mug.

I just roll mine up with a piece of file folder cardboard to keep the edges of the cone from snaging anything and a rubber band to keep it from unrolling.

Another good idea. Does it get folded or smashed in a packed pack?

I have the CC sized for a Snow Peak 700.

Cut the bottom off of a 20 oz soft drink plastic bottle. Attach a velcro strap to hold the rolled cone in if you want to be fancy. Weighs about a half ounce, is free, and is much more compact than Trail Designs caddy. You will need to carry the stove in your pot.

Have also made one out of a tall beer can. I put Reflectix on the outside and a silicone band at the top to have it double as an insulated drinking mug.

Take two 32oz Gatorade bottle cut them the way I did and you can fit both your stove and the cone inside. The two bottle halves click together, no rubber bands or straps needed. I'm not sure what the weight is but it can't be more than an ounce and a half.
