Saw lots of stuff about AT 2012. We've got a group of 4, maybe more, doing the CDT nobo 2012, none of whom have ever thru-hiked before. Should be good.
Anyone planning the same?

I think most that have thru-hiked multiple trails would recommend not to select the CDT for your first thru-hike. It's not an easy trail for a number of reasons (snow, no blazing, only partially built, long hitches for resupply). I'd recommend the four of you try the PCT. You get great mountain scenery and an easy trail to hike and to follow. If you head out early on a high snow year, you might have some snow and route finding in the High Sierra passes and some gnarly fords. These will serve you in good stead later when you tackle the CDT as your second or third thru.
