For any gearheads and gear makers out there, I'm getting ready to make my first quilt, I have a simple pattern I plan to use, and was wondering if anyone knew if there's any performance difference wear and tear wise or in the insulating quality as it would pertain to which direction a persons runs/sews the baffles? Hopefully you all can make sense of that question, Thanks

I just asked a similar question on hammockforums. Most everyone agreed to run them lengthwise.

Running them side to side allows you to shift the down to make the quilt more suitable for varying conditions. If it's hot, shake the down off to the sides. If it's cold, shake the down into the middle of the baffle with as little as possible in the edges that could end up beneath you.

Thanks for the replies, Thanks for the tip leaftye, that make sense and sounds like it might be a good fit for me and temperature control.....
