Due to some painful and unforeseen medical expenses (OUCH), my thru-hike has turned into a hopefully half-way-or-so section hike. Financially, I just don't have the funds to make it the whole way, but I don't want to just give up. So, I'll be hiking as far as I can on what I've got, and enjoy a few months in the woods.
My question is this: I was originally going to leave on my birthday, 3/15 - giving myself extra time to get to Katahdin before October since my initial pace will be pretty slow. Now that I don't have that deadline to worry about, what do you feel would be the prettiest date to head out to Springer? Doesn't have to be terribly warm, but warmish would be nice, and I'd love to catch some spring instead of late winter. Would mid-April be best, or would you recommend waiting even later?
