Hey all,
A while back I learned of a neat way to carry a roll of duct tape that I thought some here might be interested in.

You take the hollow plastic tube of a ball point pen and chuck that up in a drill motor.

Take your full roll of duct tape and stick the start of it to the pen tube. Using the drill motor, transfer tape, pulling it off the big roll onto the pen tube. As much as you want/need.

Unchuck the tube and cut the ends of the tube off flush with the roll of tape you made.

Now take a length of cordage, tie a loop in it and put the loop thru the tube. Use the loop for hanging the tape roll on/inside your pack or where ever.

Here's mine:

Another idea that is easier is to just take the cardboard roll out of the middle of it and at least one complete round inside, then stick it together to itself to make it flat, or at least flatter. This works better with a small roll.:)

reminds me of my ritual I use to convert a toilet paper roll into a tissue-box style TP in a zip lock.

I just kind of stumbled upon this (http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3665321) last summer, but I was amazed that the tape was way, way more stickier than any duct tape I've ever used. I always carry the stuff now.

Nice tip...I just put a few turns of duct tape on my hiking poles. Very handy for blister prevention. :)

Gonna try that. I use a lot of duct tape and usually take a roll that is near the end pull then card board out of the center and fold it flat. I'm the guy that carries way more duct tape than I need and at least two hikers are glad I do.

Great idea!

I wrap mine around my hiking poles. I have now converted to the peace sign designer duct tape. Styling duct tape rocks! :D
