When are u leaving Springer? I guess it would be inadequate if you are leaving very soon. It's a pretty lightweight bag, although you can get lighter for that rating bag. It's solid. As long as you left in march, it would be a fine bag for the first 1200 miles or so. After that you'll likely need to trade it out for something lifter and more in tune with summer months.

Should be a good bag for your trip. I used a 20* synthetic in 1990 for a March 25th start and was only cold on 2 nights.
I have 2 EMS Mountain Light 0* bags and love them...I bought the second one just because I liked the first one so much and found a good deal. The first one is 8-10 years old and still going strong...haven't needed to use the new one yet.

no 750 fill down bag
no 750 fill down bag
Then you should just stick it in a trash compactor bag.

Going SOBO and cant decide what degree of bag I will need. Leaving mid-june, I Figure I could get away with a higher degree bag than NOBO hikers because it will be warmer in the South, any thoughts?
I have the EMS Mountain Lite 20 and I love it. EMS.com is having a sale right now, and for $167.30 this bag is a steal:

Yes, you can find lighter, but for that price and loft I haven't found a better deal. FYI, I'm between 6' and 6'1" and the regular size fits me like a glove.

sorry, thaught it said sleeping bag onions.
Thanks for the heads up on the EMS sale of the 20 degree bag. I just placed my order for it. Just what I'm looking for.
That is a great price for a pretty high end insulation bag.
You really need to spend time sleeping outside in a variety of temps to really know. For me if im gonna use a 20 degree bag it better never drop below 40. I sleep really cold. I carry a -10 sleeping bag and im comfortable at 20 degrees. Know yourself before you buy. However i see your from Mass. so you should be ok in the cold.
