I'm looking for a catalog photo or line drawing of an old rectangular canvas sleeping bag with the built-in awning erected. I seem to remember them having an instruction sheet sewn into the canvas showing how to set it up. Those old enough will remember exactly what I'm referring to!

Old Sears or J.C.Penny catalogs had them.

I believe that I remember seeing one in an old HERTER'S catalog from the 60's or early 70's. You might also try looking in the local library for any of Angier's books (the early ones, some of which were also co-authored by Col. Townsend Whelen).

Off for a weekend at Rattlesnake I presume?? Us Buffalonians would wait until the longer CN holiday weekends when you Torontonians/Ontario-ites were off for longer adventures, before invading your climbing spaces....:D

Than looks like a Chevy Vega ya'll are leaning on...I had a '76 Vega. It was sort of a love/hate relationship with that ride. :)

The Vega is an awesome ride.

It's amazing how far gear has come since then.

Nice shelter! Hate to wake up with a skunk sharing it with my face.

That photo was taken in the City of Tonawanda where I grew up...

I remember those useless canopies. I even set one up like that once. It keeps the moon out of your eyes.
