Let's see the thruhikers who go lightest on thier Big 3:
Here's mine-
Pack: Ospery Aether 60-3.6lbs
Shelter: TarpTent Virga w/extended beak & floor-1.10
Sleeping Bag: Western Mountaineering Megalight-1.6
Total: 6.6lbs...the rest is in the works
My Big 3 base-wieght isn't the lightest, however I felt an ultralight pack (i.e. Katadyn or Mariposa) for a thru-hike will be less reliable than I'm comfortable with. Overall, I would like to stay lighter than 30pounds including 3-4days of food.

I'm pretty sure that Blue Jay wouldn't fit into jumbo garbage bag tent, so he must be pulling our legs! :D

Actually I can, but I have to also be in a large garbage can, which screws up my weight total. So Skeemer is correct.
