I'm planning an AT thru hike starting in March of 2012, and from other various adventures and trips I have some gear. Obviously I'd like to use as much as I can of what I have, but I also want to be light.

I would much appreciate some thoughts on what I can repurpose and what I should get rid of. Thanks in advance!

Osprey Kestrel 48 pack
North Face Snowshoe 0deg bag
Smartwool everything (socks, glove liners, base layer top and bottom, balaclava... I love me some smartwool)
Patagonia cap 3 top and bottom
Asolo boots (Good for March then trail runners?)
Leki Makalu poles
Sea to Summit Coolmax bag liner
assorted sea to summit dry bags
North Face hyvent jacket
Mountain Hardwear down jacket

Again, thanks in advance!

A 0F bag might be a bit warm (it is probably heavy too).

Given your location I would suggest heading to Mountain Crossings (http://www.mountaincrossings.com/about-us.aspx) sometime this Mar. You'll see the hikers coming through and what they are carrying (and sending home). The staff will also be very helpful with your gear.

You might also make a trip to Trail Days (http://www.traildays.us/) in May. Many vendors will be there plying their wares.

See you on the trail,

Nice, I didn't know about either of those. Thank you!
