Just out of curiosity and because I liek to watch the weather in places I like to hike, even if I am not there, I looked at the forecast for Blood Mountain and the highs for the next week will be in the upper 40's and 50's.. Oh man..

I rather be hiking!!:(

What's your source -- got a link? As for weather forecasts the further they go out the more inaccurate they are, in fact if you watch real close to your local weather they are constantly revising the long-term forecasts.

By "next week" are you meaning the weekend or what?

It was in the 60s today at Grassy Gap at 3K elevation. I suspect Blood was mid to upper 50s today with total sunshine.

This weekend's weather was unbelievable. I cannot remember a January weekend like this in many years. But rain is likely tomorrow and I suspect some colder air to follow.

Yep, Blairsville is the closest town to Blood Mtn. I believe in the area around Slaughter Gap at certain times of the year you can see the lights of Blairsville on occasion in the distance. Either way Blairsville is still a good distance away. But still the closest town.

Blairsville is the closest major town to Blood Mtn about 12 miles as the crow flies. However Suches (unicorporated) is only 6 miles to Blood Mtn as the crow flies.

There are no reliable weather reporting stations for Blood Mtn or the trail because all are at much lower elevation. Even the Blood Mtn Wilderness weather is probably taken from the Turners Corner weather station which is only 1600'. The trail runs between 3K & 4K through this area and all the weather reporting stations are at 2200 or lower. So you have to figure 5 to 10 degrees cooler on the trail.

But your best bet for Blood Mtn weather is to call Mtn Crossings. They can look out the window.
