Another good reason to carry a BIG closed cell sleeping pad.

According to what I read, apparently he didn't fall 1,000 feet and land, he rolled some, ect. My impression at first was he fell 1,000 feet in one big drop, and landed on his pack, apparently this wasn't the case.

Just reading it quickly, how they said something like "bits of kit were found along his route down" it gave me the image of the guy kinda dropping straight down (but when you look at a picture it's a slope, not a cliff) and maybe just having the edge of his pack and all keep hitting outcroppings or maybe trees. It was like the guy in the armed forces who fell out of a plane in AK around 25k feet and somehow hit off snow-covered pine trees just right and survived with very minimal injuries. But he could have rolled and also trailed bits here and there behind him. Seems like pretty good luck anyway (besides the falling down the mountain part:rolleyes:).
