View Full Version : NOBO's Thru PA
When are most NOBO's crossing thru Pa around the Port Clinton area?
I'm thinking mid May for most. I've resupplied thrus in the Wind Gap area end of May thru early June.

Not May. Late June for some, early to mid-July for most.
By early August, for several weeks, there is almost no long-distance traffic in either direction.

I started on April 16 last year and got to Port Clinton on July 8. I was kind of booking it at that point and most of my friends were up to a week behind me.

I'd say mid to late June for the bulk of them. I went through in early June and there weren't no one no how

I see the bulk of them come through here mid to late May still a lot early to mid June.
May would be on the early side for sure - I'd say the first 2 weeks of June would see the "bubble"

Great time to hike in PA. I know a lot of people complain about the heat, but it's really not that bad in the shade of the forest. I hiked for about two weeks in August 07, during a heat wave, and everyone back home was telling me how miserable it was. I didn't really mind it all, with the exception of the Cumberland Valley. Water can be a problem, but not a hike-ender.

Oh, and I had taken 10 days off at the end of May to go home to see my new grand-son.

I did a SOBO section from the 501 shelter to Harpers around the 3rd week of June and ran into a lot of them around the Doyle. I stayed at the Ironmasters on Jun 20th (I only know this cuz I ran into a few naked hikers the next day) at it was full up.
