Hey.. where's his neck knife? Just kidding! Thats the other dude.
I like Survivor Man better than the other shows. He has integrity
and he shows when his stuff works and when it doesn't.
My favorite episode of all time is Canyon lands while Les is talking to the camera the squirrel he is cooking catches on fire behind him and he shouts: "My Squirrel!"
Where was the book signing?

Not much of a story. I waited in line for an hour at a book signing in Clifton, NJ. He answered some questions and signed books. He's a really down to earth guy. I asked him what his favorite places to be outdoors are and he said the Canadian Arctic and the Utah canyonlands.

I have much respect for Les Stroud. He's not too Hollywood.

Great Pic, thanks for sharing.

Awesome. Love that guy. Was him for Halloween last year. Any idea if he is doing any more book signing in the NE? I live 10 minutes away from Clifton. Damn!

I just don't know what anyone sees in the Arctic, but he's still a good man.

I always like it when Les is in Grizzly country and he comments about 100 times,"I love the outdoors, but Grizzly bears are the top of the food chain." Very cool guy, although I'm not sure about all the bug eating these guys do on their shows, little over the top.

Cool. I like Les but I have to admit I couldn't watch his post-Survivorman show. Can't even recall the name. It was way too out there for me. Too much on the mystical smoke-some-peyote-and-talk-to-my-ancestors crap for me.

It was called "Beyond Survival" and I found it as equally hard to watch. In fact, I only brought myself to watch a couple of episodes--and that was it.

The last season of "Survivorman" was great, especially the episode when he's in the Arctic and he catches those 3 huge Char--I was beside myself in disbelief, and so stoked for him! He seems like he's lost for words after he catches them, and just laughs. I laughed right along with him.

It would be nice if he did another show more along the lines of Survivorman, but I've read of him saying that he was to old to do the show, and he's got nice family. He has been doing the survive-in-the-wild-off-the-grid-thing for many more years than Survivorman has been broadcast.

But still, very cool again that you got a chance to meet him. Years back I used to talk about how he'd make a great hiking partner...he's a great musician, loves to drink beer, and knows the woods well.:D

"It's just like a weekend at the cabin...except with no food, no friends, and no beer!"

Of all the crazy survival guys (and girls) on TV, I have the most respect for Les. Seems like a very down to earth type of guy. :)

^ Les was the only one I actually learned anything from. He was real, in real situations that required real thinking. Unlike ole' bear grylls, he's just goes for the the shock value. One time bear grylls pee'd in his t-shirt, rung it into his mouth and then wore the shirt... Crazy thing for a man to do that has a crew with him, didnt teach me anything.

Some boob in the Q&A session asked if he would do a show with BG and without hesitation he said, "NO!" to the pleasure of the crowd. He said, "I have no problem working with another survival specialist though." The audience loved it!
