I had a HH ultralight backpacker with the nylon sheathed spectra rope. The sheathing eventually (after 2+years of moderate use) wore through and the rope wouldn't hold so I replaced it with nylon climber's accessory cord. I weighed between 207 and 217 at the time. No problems.

I would hang over a spot with an exceptionally fluffy layer of forest duff for now.

I used a UL Asym Backpacker rated to 200 for a couple of years. I was 210 plus the weight of my gear, so it was over by 10-20 pounds. No problem. YMMV.

Guessing that's because not many on here are over 218 and use a HH. I have the HH Ultralite Backpacker Asym and it has no problem with 220 lbs. My sons have used it and they are both over 240.

I'm guessing it is kind of like Amperage limits on wire in the National Electric Code. Sure it says you can't put more than 20A on a 12 AWG wire... but if you put 30A on it nothing drastic is going to happen. Monkeys aren't gonna fly out of the wire's butt or anything. I suspect it is the same with the HH 200lb weight limit.

I've got the HH Ultralite A-sym, and I use it alot. I'm 240#. There is a safety factor built in for 'reasonable' wear, but I've only had one problem with mine in 9 years... The center line for the netting snapped when I tensioned it too tight (before I got in it) once. I repaired it, and haven't had a problem since.

I have an HH Ultralite A-sym too, I used it for years weighing 250lbs. I cut my weight down to 200 and a couple years later one of the lines snapped as I was tightening it. The line was worn where it snapped, and I am pretty sure it had nothing to do with my weight. The rest of the hammock is still in great condition after 7 years of use.
