The National Park websites have a few potential options but didn't have as much as I'd hoped for... I'm looking for an overnight loop, can be anywhere from from 6 to 15 miles per day.... preferably with some awesome wildlife/scenery:)

We'd be willing to do a canoe or kayak route, too. We have all our hiking gear, just no idea as where the best place to go would be!

Everglades, the Keys, anything near Miami.... anyone have any specific suggestions?

The Everglades are my heaven on Earth, but as far as an overnight hiking loops go in south Florida, I can't be much help... But it's like the "wilderness trip planner" says on the NPS website "possibilities are unlimited for overnight wilderness trip routes"... Check out the trip planner from the Everglades site "http://www.nps.gov/ever/upload/Wilderness_Trip_Planner_2009.pdf" paddling and chickee or beach camping would be an incredible way to spend an overnighter. Wish I was down there, you lucky *ss

I can go on forever a virtual treasure trove of websites about recreation in Florida. We have alot to offer here in the south. Hope you find something fun to do. I am in Northeast Florida and hike alot of the FT.

It is not Miami or south florida, but if you are driving on US27 you will pass thru Frostproof in Polk co. YOU HAVE GOT TO go to Lake Wales Ridge St. Forest!!!! A great place to go. Great loop of about 10 miles, skirts along Lake Arbuckle and wildlife out the waszzzzoooo!!!! I go there alot. Try www.fldof.com (http://www.fldof.com) and look under state forest links!!! You won't be sorry!! My girlfriend and i go there 4-6 times a year and hike and camp. Phone number is 863-635-8589. You have to see it and try it before it gets to hot here in Florida!!

When are you going to be here? How far from Miami are you willing to travel?

Johnathan dickinson is a nice hike--if you go out to Kitching Creek. Scrub Jay isn't' as nice...

I second Jonathan Dickinson. The East Loop goes over ancient sand dunes and is really hilly. The whole park is beautiful and it's one of the most wild feeling places to hike in South FL, along with Everglades NP.
