My wife and I are considering going to the biennial conference in Virginia this summer. My concern is that during July the heat and humidity could melt the lugs off your boots. Has anyone had any experience with the weather conditions in that part of Virginia during July?

It gets hot here but not that hot.

I'm also planning to attend. I can't imagine it being hotter than the '07 conference in NJ. Went on 2 hikes under very hot & humid conditions.

Yeah, it's hot, but not unbearable. You're mainly in the shade of the trees...it's just muggy and buggy.

In Southwestern Virginia, you'll be fine.

virginia during the summers isn't bad at all.

maybe it's 'cause i was born & raised in MS, but when i moved to swva in august of 2006, the locals were complaining of a "heat wave." i was almost in a sweatshirt.
