I am looking for info on elevation changes between certain sections, namely Spring to Neels. I have looked online and cannot find the info.

Thanks

Seems like trails.com has this info.
Unfortunately, everything on trails.com can be found for free on the 'net if you are willing to do a little searching. I had a trails.com subscription and it was a waste of money.

That's exactly what hiking in New Hampshire is like.

Cool, thanks a lot. Couldn't find it anywhere.

One thing.....I thought it was 28.3 miles from Springer to Slaughter...then 2.3 more miles to Neels....

DeLorme provides a close approximation of the trail in Topo 9 and is useful for elevation profiles, but DeLorme doesn't have enough points for accurate distance calculations. Your 30.6 miles is correct.

And don't forget the approach trail...up, up, up! I think it is a great eye opener of what is comming!

If you prefer your information in number form instead of an elevation profile.

The Delorme elevation profile is not very useful at all IMO.

Much better are the profiles Mr. Parkay created or those on the ATC maps.

The Delorme profiles need to be about 2' long to even it out enough to make any sense.

Elevation profiles are all about perspective :-?...

Hey 10K, where'd that come from? How can I get the whole AT in nice graphical/electronic format like that?

Came from here (http://parkaymaps.110mb.com/). There are profiles for other popular long trails too, not just the AT.

Perspective and training. :sun

When I started section hiking I feared any climb with a 500' gain or more. Then it was 750' and now it has to be over a 1000' to get my attention.

I laughed when I hiked the kiddie coaster - I mean rollercoaster.
