Pack for kid

What is out there suitable for kid, internal frame, light, capable of carrying 20 - 30 lbs. Kid is boy, 5', 80 lbs. All I can thnk of is Granite Gear Vapor Ki. Anything else?

REI has several kid's packs, not super light but otherwise excellent. I took my kids back to the store for several refittings as they grew. Look for plenty of sdjustmrnt.

My daughter really likes the Osprey Jib 35. We spent all day at our local REI and she tried on numerous packs that they would load up with some weight and she would walk around the store for a while. There is a bigger Osprey, but this one is great for the weight I want her to be able to handle and it adjusts easily for their growing torso. Her b-day is next week, I've already gotten this for her as one of her presents. :)

I would expect the waist strap on the Granite Gear Vapor Ki wouldn't go small enough for someone who is 5' & 80 lbs. A have a short list of kid sized packs (http://www.verber.com//mark/outdoors/gear/pack.html#Kids) that might give you a few other ideas. There might be some new packs I don't list. My daughter stopped growing and is happy with her pack, so I haven't been following packs for the smaller set for a couple of years.

i got my daughter an osprey ace 48 its a little heavy but a real nice pack.

I would add that some weight is not a totally bad thing. Kids can be tough on gear.

If you expect that kid to grow (taller) much more, I would like to recommend the Deuter ACT Lite 65+10. Deuter packs (at least this model) can adjust over a huge range. The price and weight are very nice as well. Search this forum a bit for other comments on this very pack.

I just got my daughter a Camelback Helena - she liked the fit, it has a bladder, and it's big enough for what she can carry (12-15lbs). It's a woman's daypack, basically, and even though she's more like 4.5ft tall it seemed ok on her. Might be a little small for what your son wants to carry.

What would be the dowside of using a woman's pack like the Granite Gear Vappr Ki for a boy say 5' 90 lbs? Well, other than the color.
