I know it's a bit of a longshot, but does anyone know of any 2-3 day loop trails around Harpers on that involve the AT?
I am trying to avoid the Shennendoah this weekend if possible (been spending way too much time there lately) and not involve a shuttle since I don't know when I will be able to get away on Friday and going solo.
Any other ideas in the region are welcome as well.
Thanks!

try looking up hikes in george washington national forest....big schloss comes to mind as one good circuit hike (and fires are allowed!)

I will put that one on tap for an overnighter soon.
Any ideas for something closer to 20 miles?

Not a loop, but Caledonia to Pine Grove is about 20 miles by trail. They are both on the same road, so hitching a ride back to your car should be pretty easy. If you leave late, there are shelters within easy hiking distance of both trailheads.

You could actually make a loop by walking the AT one way for 12 miles or so and then combine other trails and forest roadsto return back to Caledonia.
