I'd throw in a bandana, spork, sham-wow/super absorbent towel, knife, lighter, Advil, benedryl, immodium, toothpaste, maybe dr. bronners soap, 50 ft. parachute cord, bear bag, garbage bags/pack liner, pack cover.

I am traveling with my roommate, who will be carrying the tent. We will be sharing the kitchen and a few other things, which will hopefully reduce both of our base weight.

Sea to Summit Silk Liner - 4.6
Base Layer -18.50oz (1.16 lbs)
Capilene 2 crew - 5
(2) Capilene 2 shirt - 4 each Why 2 extra shirts? I cold see bringing a spare set to sleep in, but 2 extra shirts are for what?
Capilene 2 pants - 5.5
Rain Layer - 17.8oz (1.11lbs)
Marmot PreCip -15
mont-bell Dynamo windpants - 2.8 How well do these work in rain, many wind layers wet out pretty quickly?
Insulation Layer - 12.4oz (.78 lbs)
mont-bell U.L.Thermawrap vest- 5.4
leaving at home: Marmot Baffin Jacket - 13

Mechanical pencil ~ 2
Headlamp ~ 4
Kitchen - 30.70 (1.92 lbs)
Beer Can Penny Stove - 1.5
REI Open Country 2 Quart Pot - 12 Way too heavy/big to bring, even for 2, I like the Snow Peak Trek 1400 pot, 7 oz.
(2) Bottles HEET Fuel ~ 14 Just take 1, easily replenished.
Windscreen ~ 3

The number one item is PB. Funny stuff :)
leave home space blanket
I still think you need some kind of insulated jacket. Just a vest won't cut it early on. By May, sure.
I'd carry your own gear. More than once I have seen good friends separate (ie one leaves the trail) and that's the end. The only ones who should carry gear together are couples and family
Unless you're planning on becoming more than just friends 2 people in a 2 person tent is extremely uncomfortable. I've done it twice due to tent failure and I can't imagine doing it for 5 months.

Some observations:
consider Skippy instead of JIF:rolleyes: (I guess either will go with your (GoLite) Jam:D . . .
when are you starting? a 32F bag might be pushing it
unless you plan to wear your Capilene 2 shirts at the same time, you might have too many
hydration system for drinking on the go
needle for draining blisters
hand sanitizer
maps
guidebook
lighter
TP
sunscreen (if NOBO - until leaves come out)
ear plugs
Concur:
consider carrying own gear instead of sharing
bandana/buff
50 ft of cord
small swiss army knife with tweezers/scissors
And, of course, don't forget ID/atm/credit cards.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
See you on the trail,

Garbanzo & Mtn Squid - thanks!
Starting in May so I think I should be okay without the jacket. I'll probably use it in August and September towards the end.
I just purchased the Platypus Big Zip SL 3L (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KZGYLS), the Leatherman Micra (http://www.amazon.com/Leatherman-64010103K-Micra-Multitool/dp/B0007UQ1B0) and the Sea to Summit SN240 Ultra-Light Cordura Pack Cover (http://www.amazon.com/Sea-Summit-Ultra-Light-Siliconized-Cordura/dp/B001Q3KMB2)
I found a sham-wow to use and a few other misc items that you guys suggested.
My best purchase thus far would probably be a bamboo knife (http://www.greenfeet.com/itemdesc.asp?kw=Bamboo-Knife-Fork-and-Spoon-Set-bambu&ic=6005-01717-0000) for getting the PB out of the jar!

A pack cover won't keep your stuff dry. Get a trash compactor bag to use as a pack liner. Regular trash bags don't last very long.
My first aid kit consists of:
1 roll sports tape
1 piece molefoam
Several tiny baggies containing a few each of advil, imodium, benadryl
A needle and some dental floss
Sports tape sticks to my feet far better than duct tape, and I use it for small cuts instead of a bandaid. It'll stay on for several days at a time.
