I live near Philadelphia. Am looking to get away for the weekend, maybe Fri- Sunday or stay at a campsite Fri and hike until Sunday. Any suggestions of anything close by? Thanks. Im also looking into the 5 books I have to se what I come up with.

Go past Cabella's to Port Clinton. Go either north or south. North is more interesting. Water and Shelters both way. It will be a blast!

Chubbs I use this at this time of the year

Then realize that all campgrounds are closed above the mason dixon until April 15 there abouts... So you can camp - but its steath camp or pitch where you want. The current map points to a muddy Delaware Water Gap or a smooth sail Maryland trip...

Pull a map and see where a 4 hour southern trip would get you.... Hey we are neighbors.

Your thoughts?

This is why I posted. Great responses. Was kind of looking for a loop cause I would have no way to get car back unless I redo the route.
Deucalion- thanks for that. Will check it out but that shows quite a few trails to do.
tf bear-What trail would that be and where is the trail head?
Wise Old Owl- We are neighbors. I used to live in West Chester for 10+ years and thats probably a little closer. You suggest Maryland, what trail were you thinking? I dont really want to break any laws and Im pretty easy going as to where i have to sleep.

Thanks again. I just started to get into the hiking camping thing this past year. Have always hiked a bit but never weekly which I am trying to do. When I figure out more and see some responses ill let you guys know what I decide.

oh I was thought this was about the AT, but there are other choices.

Sorry to mislead. I have actually never done a bit of the AT yet.

Pinchot Trail is the nearest loop hike to Philadelphia. It is an easy overnighter. Batona Trail in NJ is also a possibility, but I think camping is limited.

Spirit- I will check that one out. I was looking into the Thunder Swamp trail possibly.

I'm nearby too. Egg Harbor Twp, NJ. Been hoping to hike the Barons Trail sometime. If you want a partner sometime let me know.
