Funny, my wife never checks my clothes before tossing them in the wash and a Sandisk Cruzer recently survived as well.

The same place as my socks????
I managed to wash and dry my Sandisk too! I was surprised it still worked. I guess they can be trail rated now...

So that's how you clean a disk? I wonder if I can clean out my lap top too?
Many electronics are waterproof. Just make sure you dry it completely before you plug it back in or turn it on.

http://www.google.com/search?q=tuff+n+tiny&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a This usb device is teeny weeny and its marketed as a water/dust/dirt proof. I've had mine for about 8 months and no problems. I can vouch for the water part, though i don't recommend putting anything that is wet into a p.c

Somebody try boiling one in your cook pot over an alchy stove and report back. This could end up being a fun experiment.
Here's a couple more suggestions:
-- Dangle one on the outside of your pack during your entire thru hike and see if it works at the end
-- Strap one on your boot shoe lace during your thru hike

I am younger, but I am still programming on a big iron, and working in Cobol.
Cobol. It holds the world together, after all these years.

So how many pounds of punch cards did you have to lug?
So how many pounds of punch cards did you have to lug?
Actually not many. I was (am) a field service technician. We carried a few diagnostic punch cards but mostly our diags were on reel to reel tapes.
