Has anyone tried hiking in the Chaco shoes? They have shoes. They look like they are the sandals with a leather shoe cover on top. The bottom of the sole doesn't look quite the same, but maybe it's good enough?

I ordered some but they are too big and I'm debating whether they will work or not, whether to just return them or to exchange for another size.

Here's a link so you know what I'm talking about. Not the sandals.

I own a pair of Chaco boots. I climbed and descended Mt. Kenya in them. Messed up my toenails pretty badly on that trip; podiatrist said it was because my boots were too big. So I don't wear them anymore, but they were sturdy and comfortable (or at least as comfortable as boots can be). They haven't shown any signs of wear yet.

I have a friend that did the AT and PCT in chacos. Said he wouldnt have it any other way. He used seal skin socks when it got cold and said he broke his big toe in PA.
