from the Class of 2010, and anyone who heard of the father/son thru hiker team from Maine, here's the story

the latest issue of the ATC "Journeys" has a great article (pgs 37-40), "the story of Venado and Tecolote", written by the father Paul Molyneaux (Tecolote) about their hike.

in early June of last year, I was fortunate enough to run into them several times heading NOBO between Erwin, TN and Damascus, VA. We spent a night together at Roan High Knob shelter on a cold, rainy night. It was really a treat to talk with them and to meet Venado and Tecolote. A great inspiration to anyone who has heard of them.

wishing the best to Venado and Tecolote, I hope to run into them again on the trail some day

I met them in the Whites. The mother and daughter were also there. Mom was driving. I liked the kids. Dad, not so much...

I haven't got the current magazine yet but I met the father and the son just, by chance, in 2010. My husband daughter and I were just leaving Cove Mt. shelter in VA after hauling water to that shelter. They were just arriving for the evening. He wanted to take his son to Eagles Landing but they were already way past it. I thought they were interesting. He did speak of other family members that would be hiking with them later on. I followed them on TJ's for a while. I'll look forward to reading the article.
