Somebody cells a thin, wide pad. Maybe 40" or so. Wide enough to wrap around shoulder and hips to prevent the dreaded midnight chill. Who is that?

Oware... at owareusa.com . I use, and have only ever used, the original which was two inches wider and ¼" thick at 7oz. I love it but it is bulky to pack.

It can be a puzzle to find the listing on Oware's site. Click the 'Online secure shopping' hotlink in the left side frame, then click on 'foam pads' on the page that shows up...that'll take you to their choice of pads...

This one is currently $28:
QUOTE: Foam Sleeping pad Double wide 38x60x3/16"

Even better, look into a Speer segmented pad extender. Check out this one here:

Personally, I have never slept hammocked with a pad. I have a DIY under quilt, a 20* down underquilt, and I am close to ordering a custom Climashield 45* summer underquilt. UQs are the bomb! :D

phobos, do you prefer the JRB torso pad to underquilt? I have a yetti for my WBBB and am looking to use the JRB pad in place of my underquilt on hot summer overnighters and to double as a sitting pad . This is a weight reduction to my pack I'm considering.

I just discovered something like this, they aren't super light, but they sure seem to work. Foam yoga mats, sold at walmart and every other big box store on the planet. They can range from 22"-38" across, and up to 7' long. They're dense, very flexible foam that's a bit heavy, but very warm. Could do some trimming to taper it toward your feet to save weight.
